The Pharisees: A Biblical Example of Hypocrisy (Application Challenge and Prayer)
Students today are bombarded by television and media showing them examples of prideful and arrogant behavior. But, is this what God wants for us? Humility can be a difficult concept to students to understand. Jesus was the most humble person who ever lived! He was so humble he gave his life for us, even when we didn’t deserve it! This series will seek to introduce students to the Biblical concept of humility and bring kids closer to understanding the amazing character of God!
This activity is intended to encourage youth to apply the Jesus Condemns the Pharisees Youth Message to their own lives. The message and discussion questions can be purchased separately. For the entire lesson, please see the lesson plans tab.

Activity Overview
HUMILITY: Knowing our gifts come from God and not from us.
MEMORY VERSE: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10 NIV
Jesus Condemns the Pharisees
Scripture: Matthew 23:1-12, 25-28
Jesus had many problems with the way that the Pharisees treated others. In this lesson, students will look at the Pharisees: A Biblical Example of Hypocrisy.
Objective: Students will learn that no amount of good works can save a person, and Jesus’ paying the penalty for our sin is the only way to be reconciled to God.
