Youth Bundle Lesson Overview

HUMILITY: Knowing our gifts come from God and not from us.

MEMORY VERSE: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10 NIV

LESSONS:

Week 1. King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream

Scripture: Daniel 4

Pride can cause a lot of problems! It also shows that we aren’t giving credit where credit is due. In this lesson, students will look at King Nebuchadnezzar: A Biblical Example of Pride.

Objective: Students will learn that God is worthy of our worship, and to devote our attention or affections to worldly things which are rightly owed to God is idolatry.

Week 2. Naaman’s Healing

Scripture: 2 Kings 5:1-19

Naaman was a wonderful soldier, but he had a terrible skin disease. In this lesson, students will look at Naaman: A Biblical Example of Arrogance.

Objective: Kids will learn that the Church is a fellowship of believers who are called to meet together regularly for the sake of studying Scripture, prayer, worship, serving, encouraging one another, and to testify to God’s goodness to the world.

Week 3. Jesus Condemns the Pharisees

Scripture: Matthew 23:1-12, 25-28

Jesus had many problems with the way that the Pharisees treated others. In this lesson, students will look at the Pharisees: A Biblical Example of Hypocrisy.

Objective: Students will learn that no amount of good works can save a person, and Jesus’ paying the penalty for our sin is the only way to be reconciled to God.

 Week 4. John the Baptist

Scripture: John 3:22-36

John the Baptist was preaching and baptizing before Jesus started his ministry. In this lesson, kids will look at John the Baptist: A Biblical Example of Humility.

Objective: Students will learn that each person who comes to faith in Christ receives the Holy Spirit and is endowed with a spiritual gift for the sake of serving the Church.
