Students today are bombarded by television and media showing them examples of prideful and arrogant behavior. But, is this what God wants for us? Humility can be a difficult concept to students to understand. Jesus was the most humble person who ever lived! He was so humble he gave his life for us, even when we didn’t deserve it! This 4 week series will seek to introduce students to the Biblical concept of humility and bring kids closer to understanding the amazing character of God! This bundle contains all “Our Big God” Humility lesson plans and supplemental materials. This series was designed for January 2024, but can be used in any 4 week month!

Youth Bundle Lesson Overview
HUMILITY: Knowing our gifts come from God and not from us.
MEMORY VERSE: “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.” James 4:10 NIV
LESSONS:
Week 1. King Nebuchadnezzar’s Dream
Scripture: Daniel 4
Pride can cause a lot of problems! It also shows that we aren’t giving credit where credit is due. In this lesson, students will look at King Nebuchadnezzar: A Biblical Example of Pride.
Objective: Students will learn that God is worthy of our worship, and to devote our attention or affections to worldly things which are rightly owed to God is idolatry.
Week 2. Naaman’s Healing
Scripture: 2 Kings 5:1-19
Naaman was a wonderful soldier, but he had a terrible skin disease. In this lesson, students will look at Naaman: A Biblical Example of Arrogance.
Objective: Kids will learn that the Church is a fellowship of believers who are called to meet together regularly for the sake of studying Scripture, prayer, worship, serving, encouraging one another, and to testify to God’s goodness to the world.
Week 3. Jesus Condemns the Pharisees
Scripture: Matthew 23:1-12, 25-28
Jesus had many problems with the way that the Pharisees treated others. In this lesson, students will look at the Pharisees: A Biblical Example of Hypocrisy.
Objective: Students will learn that no amount of good works can save a person, and Jesus’ paying the penalty for our sin is the only way to be reconciled to God.
Week 4. John the Baptist
Scripture: John 3:22-36
John the Baptist was preaching and baptizing before Jesus started his ministry. In this lesson, kids will look at John the Baptist: A Biblical Example of Humility.
Objective: Students will learn that each person who comes to faith in Christ receives the Holy Spirit and is endowed with a spiritual gift for the sake of serving the Church.

Opening Activity - so you can get the students engaged as soon as service begins! This activity is a fun way to get kids excited to be in church!
